I had the incredible opportunity to visit Leipzig (Germany) with Rex Bionics when I was asked to help them by walking at the disability event. I was able to present the Rex device to many people and support Debra Leeves (Rex Bionics, Vice Preseident international sales and marketing). It’s hard to put into words how awesome this experience was!! While breifly in the UK, I was also able to see my brother, sister in law, and mum, which made this trip that much better.
Had a great time talking with this very talented group of individuals that Rotary brings together. Able-bodied teens are matched with other teenagers of simialr ages and varying disabilities, this opportunity gives both sides a chance to have experiences outside of what they would normally have. This personal development and interaction of youth who share disabled challenges, are supported by Rotary Internation Youth Exchange Student mentors.
I had a fantastic time, thank you for your questions and high fives.
Air NZ does a stella job of helping new people to the Travel and Tourism industry understand the needs of the patrons they are about to support. Part of this induction process involves a little disability awareness, I enjoy meeting each group and this 16 strong team (only two guys!) was just as exceptional. I always come aways smiling and thanks to Shirley and her class, I was smiling all the car ride home.
Another great programme
After another 11 days as Core staff, training Team Leaders, and of course the willing and happy to be there teens. It’s always a wonderful transformation process for us and for the teens, I love and value being able to be part of it. I totally feel honoured to have been a part of D54. Changing lives, shaping the world, making a difference.
