Chch Achilles Awards – plus, Chch Marathon

Well, this was a great weekend. Not only the Achilles awards night, I also had the opportunity to partake in the Christchurch Marathon..

Achilles really puts on a show, it’s hard not to when everyone’s bright, highviz and smiling! The support is always top notch and Chch was no exception. The rain didn’t damper any spirits and even with several meters of the finish on wet grass, well, it is what it is.

I personally, find the supporters as important as the competitors. They bring the energy to those that need it on the course, cheering and yelling support, even just being there still adds to the event.

Massive thanks to all the volunteers and support crew that helped create a hugely successful event. (ps – don’t tell anyone, I only did the 10km 😉 I understood that the half and full marathon required some logistics that weren’t quite ready for wheelies to be involved yet, so I bowed down and took one for the team).

Awesome night at the awards, where Maia (national operations manager Achilles NZ) had asked me to help here on the stage with presenting the awards. Beautiful night, lovely food, with loads of chats. Thanks to all those who attended, or helped make the night so successful. Yay. I didn’t get any photos of the night awards as we were all kinda had our hands full.
