9th Nov – Auckland Marathon 2025 squirrel
Wow, another year, and Auckland Marathon now has a Half Marathon wheelchair section!
This was my 11th Marathon, my 4th time completing the Auckland Marathon, so I know the course pretty well now. Doesn’t make me any faster, but at least I know where the corners are.
Did you know less than 1% of the population will complete a marathon! You reading this can, if you want to, you just need to start. Any walking or running is a good place to start, after work, before work, on weekends, then perhaps join a running group, like Achilles.
Achilles is a fantastic group, and thanks to them, I’ve been able to be part of the largest Achilles attendees at this event. Thanks for helping the wheelies get to the start, and the assistance getting our day chairs to the finish line. Life is so much harder to get around when you don’t have your wheelchair.
Achilles helps many people with disabilities get involved with sport and fitness. They’re helping me with my WMM Abbotts Six Star goal as well 🙂 Great people, great events, get involved.
