After several months of training in the garage, I finally get out into the wide, open suburban wilderness. This is my 21st RtB’s event, wow how did that happen!! I started doing it in my day chair (everyday chair, not the racechair I use now) 1996 and it took 54mins! Today I managed 25mins and
So cool, I emailed my entry details through to TCS, and low and behold, I’m now in the event!! Should I start training now?? 😀 Ha ha
For a short/highlight video of my pushing the marathon, click here… Not just another marathon, this is only my 6th marathon, my third Auckland Marathon over the Harbour Bridge. I’ve had the pleasure of being in the first 2018 Harbour Bridge crossing when wheelchairs were invited back into the Auckland Marathon event. That first time
Helping promote the walk ways and pathways around Auckland 🙂  I normally push around on my day chair or race chair, but when with friends on bikes, it’s easier on my hand cycle. After Covid caused so many shut downs and lock downs, the RtB organisers managed to come up with this novel approach to their event… the Round the Backyard, virtual run. I managed to get in a few good kms, but didn’t bother wearing my usual costume (well, any costume). It just didn’t feel right. Managed
It is with a very warm heart I place this on my website. Thank you to my Alumni OHS for still seeing me doing silly things, but you seeing them as worthwhile. Really makes me smile reading this article. PS – Round the Bays is a fun event, always is, lots of smiles 🙂
The world is having a very challenging time dealing with this virus. I feel so lucky and blessed to be in NZ where our struggles are quite minor in comparison to other countries. We all have our own struggles, some are seen, some we hold within us. I continue to train even though several events
