Year 12 assembly

It is always a privileged and an honour to be invited back to my old alumni for any reason, least of all to speak with the year 12’s. Even if it was the morning after a 32hour flight, I’m still happy to speak with the youth of tomorrow.

As always, my prep was weeks in advance and I had been briefed on the topic. When I started, you could’ve heard a pin drop, however, but the time I finished, they were noisy as ever they should be. Apparently they clapped louder & longer for me than anyone else they’ve had in front of them! Go me!

At the end of the day, the year 12’s are the winners and I hope in my heart of hearts, that a few of them got a message to better themselves. I can’t ask for more than that.

Thank you OHS, thank you year 12 students 2015, and thank you to Deirdre Shea for allowing me to be part of the assembly.

Gitex 35th Technology week in Dubai

Wow! That is the only way to describe the country, city, people and event itself!

Totally blew me away, and was so much more than I expected.

Rex had been invited to attend the 35th Gitex Technology week in Dubai. Through a company Amana Health, Rex was on the Etisalat stand, demonstrating the amazing device. Technology Week was from 18th-22nd of October, and what a week.

The people we met through being on the Etisalat stand were really beautiful, friendly and really interested in the Rex rehab device. Apparently it was the one of the most interesting devices on any stand there. We’re talking about thousands of stands, over a massive area. Dubai does not do things on a small scale… Worlds biggest mall, worlds tallest building, The Palms, etc…

I am literally living my dream of several years ago. Travelling the world, talking and being involved in sport!! Aside form other activities I’m involved in, I am happy to give time to Rex Bionics as they have got an amazing product that I full respect, appreciate and stand behind.

Thank you Rex Bionics for inviting me to be part of the Etisalat stand and participate at the 35th Gitex Technology Week in Dubai. I am humbled by the experience.

ACS08 – AirNZ Aviation Institute

It’s so heart warming to know that the students going through AirNZ Aviation Institute have some first hand knowledge of special needs individuals.

Through our fast paced presentation, we take the students to a better understanding of the grey area that is disability. Briefly we show some variations of questions, different abilities and basic awareness of SCI’s, MS, MD, the degrees of paralysis. This is done with a tear and a smile to give an emotional attachment to the knowledge.

It’s more about being empathetic than sympathetic.

Wonderful, intimate group, shame had the class was away that day. Thanks for having me in your class.
